Charles Wilson Honored by Marquis Who’s Who for Excellence in Community Service

U.S. Air Force veteran Charles Wilson served as vice chair of the School Board for Alexandria City Public Schools

ALEXANDRIA, VA, August 16, 2016, Charles Wilson has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiles are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Wilson is a retired U.S. Air Force officer, financial planner, and human resources development professional with more than two decades of military experience. He was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Air Force in 1964 after earning a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University. Mr. Wilson went on to advance within the military until his retirement as a lieutenant colonel in 1988. During his time in the Air Force, he served with the 315 Air Commando Wing in Viet Nam and later as executive director of the U.S. Department of Defense’s executive leadership program at the Pentagon. He was also a military liaison to the Republic of China, a municipal consultant to the City of Dayton, Ohio, and an adjunct professor at Park University, PTA president and serves on the advisory boards of the Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria and the Parent Leadership Training Institute chapter in Alexandria. He also served as vice chair of the Northern Virginia Hotline.

In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland in 1976 and an MBA from Webster University in 1979. He utilized his knowledge and experience to establish a vending machine business in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Wilson is also credited with the invention of the microwave oven carousel.

Since his retirement from the military, Mr. Wilson has remained active with various endeavors. He has been vice chairman of the School Board for Alexandria City Public Schools since being elected in 2003, and he is past chairman of the Washington D.C. Area School Boards. A fellow of the DC Life Underwriters Council, Mr. Wilson is also involved with the American Society for Training and Development, the human rights commission of the International Personnel Management Association, and Toastmasters International, among other organizations. He has four outstanding children: Audrey, Angela, Andrew and Aaron.

Mr. Wilson’s many achievements were taken into consideration when he was chosen to be featured in the 26th through 37th editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, and the 25th edition of Who in the South in the South and Southwest. He has also appeared in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who int the World.
